Welcome to EYFS at Clifton Primary School

Welcome to the Reception class at Clifton Primary School where a child's learning journey and adventures begin. We aim to inspire, motivate and challenge our children as they play and learn in a vibrant and inclusive environment reflecting the Clifton Primary School vision and supporting their  progression of skills as we work towards the Early Learning Goals. 

Our curriculum is delivered through wonderful experiences where our children have so much fun as  they learn through a mix of dynamic, hands-on experiences. We encourage the children to become  independent learners so they are empowered to lead their own learning. We also work as a whole class or in small groups that are adult led such as phonics and maths and play and learn independently in continuous provision.  Learning is enhanced with well planned activities and carefully selected resources.

The adults understand that the environment contributes to the sense of safety and wellbeing and this has an important role in supporting our children's learning. In order for children to excel, we ensure they feel safe, secure and happy, both physically and emotionally. We nurture their confidence and self esteem. Our indoor classroom area and and outdoor area promotes open ended play where we encourage our children to explore the stimulating resources while they  participate in effective learning through play with their friends. Resources are carefully chosen to connect with their interests and provide opportunities to safely experience risk and challenge, whilst developing their natural curiosity, awe and wonder and extend ideas over time. 

We want a child's journey from their pre-school setting to big school' to be a wonderful experience for both the child and their parents or carers and we pride ourselves on our welcome and induction process. We aim to lay the foundations for a child's future learning and bring out the best in each and every child right from the very beginning.
