At Clifton Primary School, safeguarding our children is central to our school policies and practice and we take this role very seriously. We work to ensure that all our staff have up-to-date safeguarding training, including Safer Recruitment.

We have a clear procedure within school for reporting any concerns about pupils, which are followed up in a timely manner and are fully explained in our safeguarding policy. All of our actions and information is recorded on a system called CPOMs. Occasionally, we will need to seek advice from the Duty Social Worker or safeguarding advice line.

By working closely together within school and in partnership with local services we confidently believe that we will continue to offer a safe environment for all our children to achieve the best education.

Support, Guidance and Wellbeing Services

Keeping children safe extends beyond the school gates, and we believe families should have access to high‑quality support whenever they need it. Alongside our in‑school safeguarding procedures, we signpost several trusted organisations that offer confidential advice, emotional support and guidance for children, young people and families. Additionally, you can contact us at any time and ask to speak to a Designated Safeguarding Lead and someone will always be available to support you. 

Kooth – Online Emotional Wellbeing Support

Kooth is a free, safe and anonymous online service that offers mental health and emotional wellbeing support for children and young people. It provides access to counsellors, self‑help tools and moderated forums where pupils can share experiences in a supportive environment. Kooth can be accessed outside school hours, giving children a place to seek help whenever they need it. https://www.kooth.com/ 

Childline – Support for Children and Young People

Childline offers confidential support for any child who feels worried, unsafe or unsure about something happening in their life. Children can speak to a trained counsellor online or by phone, explore self‑help resources, or use the “Calm Zone” for activities that help manage difficult feelings. NSPCC – Guidance for Families and Safeguarding Advice

The NSPCC provides expert safeguarding guidance for parents, carers and professionals. Their website includes advice on recognising signs of abuse, keeping children safe online, and accessing further support. The NSPCC helpline is available for adults who have concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing and need advice on what to do next. https://www.nspcc.org.uk/
